After-Dinner Coffee Recipes (Fat-Free, Alcoholic Drinks)

Enjoy one of these fat-free after-dinner coffee recipes as is, or substitute low-fat or full-fat ingredients, depending on your dietary requirements.

Café Café

4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups hot, strong coffee
  • ½ cup fat-free creamer or half and half
  • 2 ½ Tbsp white sugar
  • 1 cup coffee liqueur
  • fat-free whipped topping

Instructions

Combine coffee, creamer, sugar, and liqueur and divide evenly among 4 heated cups or glasses, topped with whipped topping.

Café Mocha

6 servings.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup coffee liqueur
  • 1/4 cup chocolate liqueur
  • 3 cups hot, strong coffee
  • fat-free whipped topping
  • cocoa powder

Instructions

Combine coffee and chocolate liqueurs and divide among 6 heated mugs or wine glasses. Pour in coffee, top with whipped topping, and sprinkle sparsely with powdered cocoa.

Café Orange

4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 4 tsp fresh lemon zest
  • 1 cup hot, strong coffee
  • 3/4 cup orange liqueur

Instructions

Place lemon zest in the bottom of each coffee cup, fill about 2/3 full with coffee, then stir in liqueur.

Café Royale

4 servings.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup hot, strong coffee
  • 4 sugar cubes
  • 1/2 Tbsp brandy

Instructions

Fill 4 demitasses each about half full with hot coffee. Stir into each cup 1 cube of sugar until dissolved, then float brandy over coffee by slowing pouring over the back of a spoon. Ignite brandy and serve flaming. (Quench brandy with spooned coffee before attempting to drink.)

Café a la Russe

4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 oz semisweet chocolate
  • 1 ½ Tbsp white sugar
  • 1 3/4 hot, strong coffee
  • ½ cup evaporated skim milk
  • ½ cup fat-free milk
  • 1/4 cup cognac
  • 1/4 cup chocolate liqueur
  • ground cinnamon, to garnish
  • ground nutmeg, to garnish

Ingredients

Combine water, chocolate, and sugar in a double boiler (or heat-safe bowl over a pot of hot water) and simmer, stirring constantly, until chocolate is melted and sugar completely dissolved. Meanwhile, scorch milk in a separate pot, rinsed immediately prior with cold water, or in a glass measuring cup in the microwave. Remove from heat and stir together with melted chocolate mixture, along with cognac and liqueur. Pour into 4 heated mugs and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Café Méditerranéen

6 servings.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups hot, strong coffee
  • 2 ½ Tbsp white sugar
  • 2 Tbsp fat-free chocolate syrup
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 3/4 tsp whole cloves
  • 1/4 tsp aniseed
  • curls of orange & lemon peels
  • fat-free whipped topping

Instructions

Tie aniseed in cheesecloth. In large saucepan, combine coffee, sugar, chocolate syrup, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and aniseed (in cheesecloth) over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer a few minutes, until ready to serve. Strain into 6 warm coffee cups, top with whipped topping and garnish with curls of peel.

It is often taken for granted but I think coffee and even tea gives a variety of flavor to many food an recipe!

I was planning to work some more tonight but it looks like I've got some drinking to do instead! :-p Really, these all look great. I'm a big fan of warm drinks since I live in a place that always feels cold to me so I'm always on the lookout for ones that sound tasty. These will have to go in the receipe box!
