Apple-Cinnamon Biscuits
These biscuits, lightly sweetened with apple butter and dusted with cinnamon-sugar, are perfect for snacking, coffee breaks, or after-dinner consumption. Reminiscent of scones, they pair well with spiced teas, and are delicious with whole-wheat flour as well!
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- ½ tsp apple pie spice
- 1/4 cup apple butter
- 3/4 cup skim milk
- 1/3 cup finely chopped apple
- 2 Tbsp sugar or Splenda
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Mix flour, baking soda, salt, and apple pie spice in large bowl. Stir in apple butter, then add milk and mix until well combined and dough comes away easily from sides of bowl. Fold in apple pieces. In shallow dish or pie plate, mix sugar or Splenda and cinnamon. Take tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and dip the tops in this mixture before placing on ungreased baking sheets. Bake 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned, and pick inserted in center of biscuit comes out clean. Serve warm with spiced apple butter or with cinnamon tea.
Optional Additions
- 1/3 cup raisins or sultanas, folded in with apples
- 1/3 cup chopped dried apricots, folded in with apples

That sounds fantastically good
Thank you
OK, I'm making some of these tonight!!! Thanks for the great hub!
Maddie, do you have any suggestions for milk substitutes? As lactose intolerants, we don't usually keep milk in the house.
Oooo, thanks!!!
sounds excellent..will give it a whirl, I love biscuits, warm from the oven.
Ooohhh Maddie, these biscuits look delicious- the cheese ones remind me of the ones from Red Lobster. I look forward to trying out your recipes!
You can always use water instead of milk/buttermilk etc. as the liquid in any biscuit recipe. We do it all the time!
The chili-cheese biscuits were awesome!! Thanks!!
I just made the parmesean biscuits (with a few substitutions) and they are delicious!
I used whole grain flower, coconut oil instead of olive oil, and I substituted the parmesean for 1 1/2 tsp of rosemary.
Perfect with a cup of earl grey tea!
Love the sound of my fAvourite baked thing
