Silverchair - Ana's Song
Please die, Ana
For as long as you're here we're not
You make the sound of laughter
and sharpened nails seem softer
And I need you now, somehow
And I need you now, somehow
Open fire
On my needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire
On my knees desires
What I need from you
Imagine pageant
In my head the flesh seems thicker
Sandpaper tears corrode the film
And I need you now, somehow
And I need you now, somehow
Open fire
On my needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire
On my knees desires
What I need from you
And you're my obsession
I love you to the bones
And Ana wrecks your life
Like an Anorexia life
Open fire
On the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire
On my knees desires
What I need from you
Open fire
On the needs designed
Open fire
On my knees desires
On my knees for you

Alanis Morissette - Mary Jane
What's the matter Mary Jane, you had a hard day
As you place the don't disturb sign on the door
You lost your place in line again, what a pity
You never seem to want to dance anymore
It's a long way down
On this roller coaster
The last chance streetcar
Went off the track
And you're on it
I hear you're counting sheep again Mary Jane
What's the point of trying to dream anymore
I hear you're losing weight again Mary Jane
Do you ever wonder who you're losing it for
Well it's full speed baby
In the wrong direction
There's a few more bruises
If that's the way
You insist on heading
Please be honest Mary Jane
Are you happy
Please don't censor your tears
You're the sweet crusader
And you're on your way
You're the last great innocent
And that's why I love you
So take this moment Mary Jane and be selfish
Worry not about the cars that go by
All that matters Mary Jane is your freedom
Keep warm my dear, keep dry
Tell me
Tell me
What's the matter Mary Jane

Manic Street Preachers - 4st 7lb
Spoken: "I eat too much to live and not enough to stay alive. I'm just sitting in the middle, waiting."
Days since I last pissed
Cheeks sunken and despaired
So gorgeous sunk to six stone
Lose my only remaining home
See my third rib appear
A week later all my flesh disappear
Stretching taut, cling-film on bone
I'm getting better
Karen says I've reached my target weight
Kate and Emma and Kristin know it's fake
Problem is diet's not a big enough word
I wanna be so skinny that I rot from view
I want to walk in the snow
And not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
And not soil its purity
Stomach collapsed at five
Lift up my skirt my sex is gone
Naked and lovely and 5st. 2
May I bud and never flower
My vision's getting blurred
But I can see my ribs and I feel fine
My hands are trembling stalks
And I can feel my breasts are sinking
Mother tries to choke me with roast beef
And sits savouring her sole Ryvitta
That's the way you're built my father said
But I can change, my cocoon shedding
I want to walk in the snow
And not leave a footprint
I want to walk in the snow
And not soil its purity
Kate and Kristin and Kit Kat
All things I like looking at
Too weak to fuss, too weak to die
Choice is skeletal in everybody's life
I choose, my choice, I starve to frenzy
Hunger soon passes and sickness soon tires
Legs bend, stockinged I am Twiggy
And I don't mind the horror that surrounds me
Self-worth scatters, self esteem's a bore
I long since moved to a higher plateau
This discipline's so rare so please applaud
Just look at the fat scum who pamper me so
Yeah 4st. 7, an epilogue of youth
Such beautiful dignity in self-abuse
I've finally come to understand life
Through staring blankly at my navel.

- FILTER
The official site. - Filter on Wikipedia
Filter is a rock group formed in 1993 by Richard Patrick and guitarist/programmer Brian Liesegang.
Filter - Skinny
So here you are in your small little world
Kept up like a little precious virgin girl
To hear 'bout your grace and your silly face
Wrapped up like a knot in a ball of shoelace
And everytime I talk to you
It sounds like you're caught in a psychological flu
Don't ever let them see you cheat
Don't Ever let them see you bleed
Don't Ever let them shake your hand
Don't ever let them believe that scam
Skinny
And it will make you cry
Skinny
And it will make you lie
Skinny
And if it makes you soft inside
Skinny
At least you will not die
And if you take a good look at them
All caught up in their graciousless win
Every sin is their seamless smile
Will go on for a countless while
And just because they think they won
It just means that the shit has just begun
Don't ever let them see you cheat
Don't ever let them see you beat
Don't ever let them shake your hand
Don't ever let them believe that scam
Skinny
And it will make you cry
Skinny
And it will make you lie
Skinny
And if it makes you soft inside
Skinny
At least you will not die
Yeah, skinny, skinny, huh

About the Band
- Saves the Day
Official Site - Saves the Day on Wikipedia
Saves The Day originally performed in the New Jersey area under the name Sefler as a five-piece band. The name change came sometime around late 1997. Of the original lineup, only Chris Conley remains today. - Saves the Day - YouTube Channel
Saves the Day - Cars and Calories
Her life was magazines
And faithful TV screens
Selling an empty dream
Of cars and calories
Everything in between
The sun and Saturn's ring
The price tag can't be seen
And it took bites
Out of her insides
'Till she was just a hollow shell
Grew up in east LA
Watching celebrities
Living out all of her dreams.
The plastic canopy
Of US royalty
Drew her gaze towards the sky
Away from her own mind
And it took bites
Out of her insides
'Till she was just a hollow shell
And at her home her mother cried
Cause daddy had something on the side
They didn't look up when she sighed
When August came around
Bathing suits on the ground
Replaced by a cotton cloak
To see her own reflection
Was like squinting in the sun
And when all tomorrow brings
Is a set of broken wings
Well it takes bites
Out of your insides,
'Till you are just a hollow shell
And it took bites
Out of her insides
'Till she was just a hollow shell

its Daddy by Jewel
My bones are tired, Daddy I don't get enough sleep I don't eat as good as I should, Daddy What's that say about me? Sometimes I sleep past noon, Daddy Drink lots of black coffee and I smoke like a chimney, Yes, I left the refrigerator door half open, Daddy What's that say about me? Sometimes I want to rip out your throat, Daddy For all those things you said that were mean, Gonna make you just as vulnerable as I was, Daddy What's that say about me? Sometimes I want to bash in your teeth, Daddy Gonna use your tongue as a stamp Gonna rip your heart out the way you did mine, Daddy Go ahead and psycho-analyse that 'Cause I'm your creation, I'm your love Daddy Grew up to be and do all those sick things you said I'd do Well last night I saw you sneak out your window With your white hood, Daddy What's that say about you? I'm sloppy, what's that say about you? I'm messy, what's that say about you?

Stop Eating by Cex
i've had an eating disorder for years, and one of the most powerful moments I can remember was when one of my treatment therapist played the song "Piece of Glass" by Cademon's Call...absolutely amazing!
Can’t believe that I did it again Wake me up from this nightmare Cause this monster is wasting me away and taking my days Every day I live a bit less; one night leads to another Even if I went back would they recognize me or criticize me Who are you that lies when you stare in my face Telling me that I’m just a trace of the person I once was Cause I just can't tell if you're telling the truth or a lie On you I just can't rely After all you're just a piece of glass Still I control this nightmare, when I call it answers But I can't tell it when to come, or when to stay Who are you that lies when you stare in my face Telling me that I’m just a trace of the person I once was Cause I just can't tell if you're telling the truth or a lie On you I just can't rely After all you're just a piece of glass Don’t talk, listen Hold me tighter Stay with me just for a while Until the sun shines stay with me Just give me one more day Who are you that lies when you stare in my face Telling me that I’m just a trace of the person I once was Cause we're not the same, you're just a picture of me You’re gone as soon as I leave; you've lived my life for me And you're no more than a piece of glass You're no more than just a piece of glass

be like that by 3 doors down
keep holding on by avril
walking on air by kerli
yellow by coldplay
Crazy by Simple Plan
Don't know if this was said, but Never Good Enough by Rachel Ferguson is a good one.
Personally, I think "Control" by Alexisonfire is more so about someone suffering from depression in general, but there are loads of people convinced it's about anorexia. Can't blame them with lyrics like;
"Say that you're in control, you say that you are, [but] I can't think of a time when you've looked less alive"
"Look past the mirror and find, just look past the mirror, that there's something inside, something more to your life"
Hello people..to you all who have know THAT hell on earth..to all of you who simple want to know more about how we feel...for the ones who are still struggling...for the ones who can now look back and wonder how on earth they survived...for the ones who now live in relative peace but the ashes and dust of those days are deeply carved in their hearts...for the ones who where sadly conquered by their demons...
One of my most beloved compositions...fiinally recorded this year, available now just to download but hopefuly will be released as a vinyl next year....
For you all.."hungerstirke" by eLaMoRTe...
http://audiostreet.net/elamortethequestion
peace and good moon....
Pray..pray to be delivered from satan's feast....
Disturbia by Rihanna
chica fresa-amandititita
I don't know or it's a song about ED's but it does reminds me of it every time a listen to it. I'm talking about"you are the moon" by the hush sound. It's just a wonderful song... so dreamy
Hedley - Gunnin' - amazing and soo sad.
Geez... thank you Katharine for this post because I've been searching the title and the band of this song for a year and finally, Hedley it was, and I found it here!! that's great!!
for me, my favorite songs related to how I feel are:
angel, sarah mchlaclan
courage, superchick
mary jane, alanis morissette
let go, frou frou (for some reasons...)
and
Eleanor Rigby by the Beatles (about being lonely)
Two good songs not necessarily having to do with ana but still remind me are: Let Go by Imogen Heap and Smoke by Natalie Imbruglia
Anna Begins - counting crows.
About a man who loves an anorexic.
From first to last - World War me
I know two French songs about eating disorders but.. it's in French
June by Indochine
(about bulimnia mostly)
and
Ficelle by Syrano
(about anorexia)
Uhm well I know of soooo many but the main one is Alanis Morisette(think that is how it is spelt) and its called You live,You learn.
all about learning and if you think about it with anorexia in mind..well there ya go!
uhm anything by katy rose is really good for eating disorders, especially Lemon. some song quotes of hers: "And starving hurts the sould when you're hungry for some love." "soups on hot, feeling like a do or die. i can't throw up i dont think i even wanna' try." "Still my hand won't go to the other side, My boney fingers stay locked here." "i think that we're all starving." "i don't know how i'll eat today, every option's looking gray." "Try not to be so all alone. it's hard to hear my stomach when it groans." and yeah.
My Chemical Romance is my favorite band, but I have to say I don't see even a remote connection with any of their songs and EDs.
Although, I guess you can pretty much read into any song what you want, people color things in with their own perspective, so to speak.
Maria Mena - Eyesore "The ugly naked truth: She starves me of my youth, And I stand alone until You catch on. I swear it's not by choice. But Ana has this voice, And it calms me down, It gives me purpose." AND
"My worth is measured solely According to the scale. I am heavy, but I feel frail."
Maria Mena - Cause and Effect "I can't laugh too hard, I'm on a diet. I'm trying to lose myself, You ought to try it. Just starve for six days straight, Oh, it's a riot. Ev-e-ry Sun-day night. I binge, and I barf, 'cause I carry the Scars of an eight-year-old, Whose mother applied the same rules To her kid's body, As her own."
I have absolutley loaaaaaaaddddddddddsss!.

II by alive in wild paint --this is from the guys point of view as he sees the girl
and i know this song isnt about eds but one part reminds me every time i hear it. its chelsea hotel no. 2 by leonard cohen or you may like the regina spektor version better. the part is:
"And clenching your fist for the ones like uswho are oppressed by the figures of beauty, you fixed yourself, you said, 'Well never mind,we are ugly but we have the music.'"
I've Been Eating For You - The Bright Eyes.
Half these songs have nothing to do with ED. Strawberry Gashes? That's about Self Harm. Not Gunna Get Us, is about the reationship between those two girls. Fully Alive and Broken, no. I'm sorry. I just don't want you guys to be lead on the wrong way.
Fully Alive is about getting saved and finding Jesus, so that is SO wrong. Flyleaf is a Christian band
Binge and Purge by Lunachicks
du löst dich auf by fotos.its a german song, really good actually
"Someone I once knew" by Dead Celebrity Status
You want a gritty, killer song about an eating disorder?
Schoolyard Heroes - Battlestar Anorexia
Sick of it All by The Distillers. Also Hall of Mirrors by them, if you read the lyrics in the right way it can be about beating an eating disorder; eg 'meat petals bloom in a bone garden'
"My Sweet Prince" by Placebo is about heroin, not ED.
Sonic Youth - Tunic (Song For Karen)
Alexisonfire - Control
Alexisonfire - To a Friend
if you are not into this type of music you should at least check out the lyrics. I think the second one is just about any type of inner battle.

I don't know if you guys are interested in songs that aren't in English. But this is a Finnish one that has helped me a lot in my recovery process from ana. It's not an ED specific song but it's really powerful, full of anger. It is just what I'd like to say to my ED. Here's a translation of the song:
What, oh what went into me back then? What, what, what did I see in you? Why do you eek and squeak like a rat? I'd like to bite your face off!
Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face? Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face?
What, what did you put into my coffee? I feel so sick. Can't you see you get up my nose? Baby, baby you're hopeless!
Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face? Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face?
Out of my life, your ugly face, out of my life, you and all your friends!
C-c-could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face? Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face?
Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your ugly face? Could you get out of my life? Could you take away your rotten smell?
Out of my life, your ugly face, out of my life, you and all your friends!
To people going "THIS AND THAT SONG ISN'T ABOUT EATING DISORDERS BLAHBLAH!"
The beauty of music and lyrics is that you can interpret them any way you like, a certain song can relate to what you're feeling at whatever point in your life, doesn't matter what the songwriter was actually writing about.
It's poetry, it's art, it should be interpreted by each individual:/
Eyesore -Maria mena
The ugly naked truth:
She starves meof my youth, And I stand alone untilYou catch on.I swear it's notby choice. But Ana has this voice, And it calms me down, It gives me purpose. And it's alright, I'm alright, I want to be okay.I've seen it before, This eyesore; it's me.Ohh, ohh, ohh, me.I want out from underThis confining skinThat I soreluctantly live in.My worth ismeasured solelyAccording to the scale.I am heavy, but Ifeel frail. And it's alright, I'm alright, I want to be okay.I've seen it before, This eyesore; it's me.Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohhh.
another good song that i havent seen listed is Hold On by Wilson Philips. it hits the spot... just listen to it and youll know it.
Um, Gary Jules didn't write Mad World. He covered it. It's a Tears For Fears song. And Tears For Fears has a lot of good songs that can relate to EDs.
Skinny little bitch by angelspit is an epic song x]

Infection by Chihiro Onitsuka is a good one, but it is in Japanese. It has the video on youtube with the subtitles, very sad...
Hi, um these songs are ok but tbh there aren't many that have the darker side, they are mostly done in a kind of happy mood so if anyone has real good darker, maybe rock or punk style would be much appreciated. I like listening to the ano songs when im down to remind me how crap it was so this upbeat stuff kinda messes with my mind.
Bulimia by One-Eyed Doll.
Breathe Again by Too Sorry For Apologies.
"So Unusual" - Jason Mraz
"Too Much Food On My Plate" - Jason Mraz
"On Love, In Sadness" - Jason Mraz
"Disease" - Matchbox Twenty
"Unwell" - Matchbox Twenty
"Cold" - Matchbox Twenty
"Dizzy" - Tabitha's Secret
"I Am An Illusion" - Rob Thomas
A song doesn't have to be ABOUT ED's in order for you to put it on this forum. It's what you take from the song, you can take almost every song and pick something out from it that you can relate back to your ED.
My favourite song that I feel I can relate to ED wise is 'Believe In Me' by Demi Lovato.
"Don't know where to turn, I've been stuck in this routine." & "I don't wanna be afraid, I wanna wake up feeling beautiful today. And know that I'm okay, 'cause everyone's perfect in unusual ways. You see, I just wanna believe in me." & "The mirror can lie, doesn't show you whats inside. And it can tell you you're full of life, it's amazing what you can hide, just by putting on a smile."
Courage by Superchick
Dear Friend by Marie Digby
Stand in the Rain by Superchick
Someone I Once Knew by Dead Celebrity Status
Diamond by Amanda Falk
Charade by Amanda Falk
Slow Fade by Casting Crowns
Breathe Again By Jimmy Robbins
[Chorus]
She's got this journal filled
With all her black ink guilt
And love is the only thing keeping her alive
She's got her mind made up
That all she needs is love
Her heart is the only thing helping her decide
To breathe again, to breathe again
[Verse 1]
And when she's tired she doesn't sleep
A week since I've seen her eat
She's skin and bones, she's beautiful
No matter what
I wish I could help her see
She means the world to me
But the world, it doesn't mean much to her
[Chorus]
[Bridge]
I'll be there to split your lips
Like when the ice berg hits
And the ship has to break apart
Show its teeth and smile
[Chorus]
She's got this journal filled
With all her black ink guilt
And love is the only thing keeping her alive
She's got her mind made up
That all she needs is love
And she'll breathe again
And she'll breathe again
And she'll breathe again
She'll breathe again, again
Thankyou SO SO much everyone!!

Wow, I didn't realize there were so many songs about this subject.
A lot of them can be taken to relate to the eating disorder- like having a lost lover or something, because eating disorders are like abusive lovers- they beat you, but you still love them and can't leave them *le sigh*.
I don't know if this has been mentioned but it's not that common so...
Annies Anorexic-The Huntingtons.
And I know Bones by The Killers isn't e.d. related but it makes me think of two anorexic people hooking up xD.
wow!! thank u guys this realy helps! I know this was already posted but i LOVVVVEEE 'Sophie' by Eleanor Mcevoy :)) stay strong XXX

I see "My Skin" from Natalie Merchant appear several times. I guess "Tell Yourself" by Natalie Merchant also deals with the subject (don't know for sure, though).

Anoretic and bulimic of ten years...outpatient services could not help me and I'm due for inpatient this week...don't know if it has been mentioned but my favorite song is "bulimia" by Tamara Dearing.
This has been a great resource. I run a body movement group a a residential eating disorders facility and have gotten some great music ideas to use with my patients - thank you!
I think more and more songs like these are going to come out because I believe these songs are an extension of what they have gone through in their lives.
"Big Isn't Beautiful" by King Adora. ?
This is a wonderful hub! VERY helpful!
Now, hopefully someone can help me/answer my question:
A year or so ago I was looking up ED related songs and I found a website that listed some with the music videos. I found one that I LOVED and loved the video too. I told myself to write down the song title so I could download it later but, I forgot to write down the title or artist!!! :( I have tried finding the song and the website i got it from with no luck, so, I will try to explain the video:
It is a guy singing and there are bunch of different scenarios. He is on a truck that is similar to a semi but the whole trailer part is transparent. He sings through all of the scenarios and it plays out one that is like a girl in the gym working out. Also, in each of the scenes it says on the glass "The Perfect....". Like, on the working out one it says "The Perfect Body". Then at the end it is just him sitting in one and it says "The Perfect Life".
Does anyone know what music video/band/song I am talking about??
Thanks in advance!!
Skinny by Edith Bucklund
i worry about the pro ana tone this has taken. i'm sure many of the artists who wrote the songs about eating disorders were not intending to promote disease but to show the suffering that they or someone else has endured. they would probably not like at all the public spread of their songs for the purpose of pro ana. i know it doesn't sit well with me, and i have an eating disorder. pro ana makes me angry and confused.
Most people have posted my fave songs liek fiona apple, and superchick, and garbage, used etc
but theres also INXS-beautiful girl
i always luvd that song so somber with a beautiful piano tune, but wasnt til i watched their film clip of it that made me undertsand it more and realise why i related to it so much. beautiful song worth a listen
i love the song hide and seek by imogen heap.
it reminds me of my battle with ana.
i don't know if this song was said yet but it's "beautiful disaster" by jon mclaughlin.

Los campesinos-the sea is a good place to think of the future. Definately a must listen.
i love how this list has literally 3 years worth of songs on it.
Binge and Purge by Lunachicks... don't think I saw anyone mention that one.
This list is massive!
Pretty much all of mine have been said (4st 7lb by Manic Street Preachers & Queen of Pain by Alkaline Trio are amazing)

cries from the city by nevertheless
The Sea Is A Good Place To Think O The Future - Los Campesinos! Absoloutely amazing song.
catatonia - bulimic beats
Tell Yourself - Natalie Merchant
Here's a good one that I don't see up here: "Save Me" by Jem. It reflects the ED thoughts that often seem uncontrollable, and the attempts to control them. I think many of you might relate to this, no matter what your ED.
Wow, what a great list. Most of the ones I was going to mention have already been named, this thread has been going a while, lol! The only one I can think of that i didn't see is 90210 by Wale..."And she throws up whatever she eats She leave the bathroom wit a nose bleed. Regular girl, celebrity dreams. She is...90210."
This is my ED/workout playlist. Many of the songs have been listed, but oh well. All are either directly related to EDs, or can be interpreted as such. Enjoy and I hope to see more postings here, especially of non-English language music!

Great Hub with great songs and lyrics. Thanks.
Katy Perry - Firework ...
@Catherine of Siena, I've always heard whispers in the dark as a song about eating disorders.
Run - snow patrol (interpretative)
Great list. If I had to add just one song to the playlist, it would be Rhett Akin's version of "Driving My Life Away". Some other themed songs to consider might be "The Road Goes on Forever" by Robert Earl Keen; "One Headlight" by the Wallflowers; "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots; "Fast as You" by Dwight Yoakum; and perhaps even "Roam" by the B-52s.
Dont leave home by dido awesome!

Skin & Bone by Picture Me Broken.
The bands not mainstream and can be pretty hard to find on Lime/Frostwire but their amazing :)
Dead Celebrity Status - Someone I Once Knew
@ PretentiousLoveStory--definitely thought I was the only one, but it's comforting to know someone else thought that as well! I'm strangely obsessed with that song...
"I lock the door, turn all the water on, and bury that sound so no one hears anything anymore. Mirror lie to me, tell me you can see, and I think you won't be able to recognize me now. I know you can feel all the things you steal and you're taking it. And you're taking it. Feeling so easy, make me skin and bones, and I'm always on my kees for you, break like it's even, when you're leaving it. THIN, where the hell have you been? Oh sometimes it burns, maybe I'll wash it out. It all looks so big, nevermind, I don't feel anything. It only hurt a bit, and I still feel like shit, and I think you won't be able to recognize me now. It's easier to quit, it's harder to admit. And you're pushing me, you're fucking pushing me. Feeling so easy, make me skin and bones. I'm always on my knees for you break me like it's even, when you're leaving it. THIN. Where the hell have you been? 'Cause you always win. You always win. Lauging like it works, bleeding like it don't hurt. Knock you off your feet, even if you need me, tear you apart and I hate how I need you. Feeling so easy, make me skin and bones, and I'm always on my kees for you, break like it's even, when you're leaving it. Too fucking easy, make me skin and bones, and I'm always on my kees for you, break me like it's even, when you're leaving it. THIN. Where the hell have you been? 'Cause you always win. You always win. You always win. I will burn all this. I will burn all this. I will burn all this. I will burn all this. I will burn all this. I will burn all this."

Pink-perfect
Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me however I know this thread is really old.
There was once a song I knew from myspace and I am sure it was called 'a.n.a is in my d.n.a' - I think? And it was a female artist!
It went along the lines of;
You gave me ana and said that i'd love her,
red elastic around my wrist all day;
Watch out she comes round,
painting up my town
- A.N.A is in my D.N.A
I'm looking for this song, but cannot remember the artist & no amount of googling is bringing anything more to light!
If someone recognises this/knows the artist please let me know asap!
You can get me at x__xbeautyinthebreakdown@live.co.uk

It’s quiet now
Broken glass and pieces of me on the floor
I hear you now, please don’t be angry anymore,
starring at that door
I wear you on my skin
Open wounds form every fight, no one can win
You made me doubt my worthiness, believed your sin
Murder from within
Don’t leave me now
Don’t leave me fallen here to drown
Who am I now?
Can’t you see you’re all I’ve got
I take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well
and I will never tell
Don’t leave me now
My body’s broken now my heart is too
I’m running now
Counting every breath I take,
you’re right behind
Breathing down my neck, what will you do this time?
And will I survive..?
Then you’re slowing down
Say, I don’t deserve this but now I can’t do without
Boy, you can use violence, I will hurt for you
Please just kill this silence,
if I only knew
Loneliness is worth than being killed by you
Don’t leave me now
Don’t leave me fallen here to drown
Who am I now?
Can’t you see you’re all I’ve got
I take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well
and I will never tell
Don’t leave me now
My body’s broken now my heart is too
I’ll take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well and I will never tell
I’m counting every berate I take
Don’t leave me now
Don’t leave me fallen here to drown
Who am I now?
Can’t you see you’re all I’ve got
I take your fists, if you take me too
Secret hidden well
and I will never tell
Don’t leave me now
My body’s broken now my heart is too

Addicted by Kelly Clarkson (she actually had bulimia, and this song really depicts how much control the disease has over you)
Courage by Superchick (obviously)
Even If It Kills Me by Motion City Soundtrack (good for when you're on the road to recovery)
A Little Bit Longer by Jonas Brothers (for when you're in the hospital/in some sort of treatment and waiting to be released and get better)
Little Voice by Hilary Duff (it's not actually about ED but it reminds me so much of it)
Lover Dearest by Marianas Trench (it's actually about the singer's heroin addiction, but ED is like an addiction)
Misfit by Lesley Roy (about negative image)
Paper Bag by Fiona Apple (obviously)
Skin & Bones by Marianas Trench (about bulimia, or purging in general)
Therapy by All Time Low (for those times when you hate therapy!)
Tied Together With A Smile by Taylor Swift (an outsider's view of someone struggling with an ED)
Unwell by Matchbox Twenty (not exactly about ED but can be related to it)
Okay so i read though all of the songs in hopes to find out who song this song that has been suck in my head, the song was pulled off of youtube i'm not sure why. They were written by someone who was recovering there is a cd out. I don't know the name of the singer or where to find the songs, i forget the second song by the one i know is called dear friend and no it's not by that girl your thinking not by stacie here are the lyrics
"Dear friend I’ve come for you again
You know but with me this wont end
I love to see you hate yourself
And everybody else
I’m all that you’ve got
I want you to feel guilt
And never let it go
To see you lie your way through life
I want you to feel low
And when you try to leave
I will make you insecure
And I will make sure everybody knows
How messed you are
I wanna be the first thing
You wake to everyday
And be the last
To tuck you in
And watch you go insane
I’ll never let you be
I’ll watch you when you sleep
I’ll be there when you screaming for me
Help you to forget
You make me
You make me confused
Or even manically depressed
And when you think you’ve lost it all
Il take a little more
All I can get
I want to be mad
And hate this very world
And blame it for the way you are
And all you could have been
I cannot say enough
About your loyalty
And all the friends and family
You traded all for me
Everybody knows
You will never ever leave me
Come and take my hand
You can depend on
Depend on me
I wanna be the first thing
You wake to everyday
And be the last
To tuck you in
And watch you go insane
I’ll never let you be
I’ll watch you when you sleep
I’ll be there when you screaming for me
Help you to forget"
please help

Where Is My Mind? (feat. Emily Browning)
Split My Personality-Salem Al Fakir
Numbers, by Pompeii
idk if anyone already said this but Never Good Enough by Rachel Ferguson is great.
I don't know if anyone already saids Waltz Moore by From First To Last
Not strictly about ED, but you can decide if the lyrics mean something to you.. Something a bit different;
Mirror mirror - Robots in disguise
Selfish - Keith caputo (Quite a hard track to get these days, but can be found on youtube or spotify)
Supernova - Fear Factory
Move this mountain - Sophie ellis bextor (I find this song inspirational. I consider the 'mountain' to be weight.)
Pagan Poetry - Bjork
Teen angst - m83 (Beautiful, and long enough to take your mind off temptation)
Today has been ok - Emiliana torrini (I listen to this when I'm feeling low.. and we all have those moments right?)
Nothing is ever finished - Fink (Again beautiful song, strikes a chord with me, and it helps)
I also like instrumental songs, they make me sit and think, thinking can while away times of temptation, and jog your memory, remind you why you keep on keeping on...
Peace x
Do you realise what an open university Hubpages is? Some of us never knew there was such heartfelt poetry in song written on this theme.
I have a song by a South African artist.. It is dubstep but the lyrics are amazing! Its called :" feed me" by Tasha Baxter
The lyrics:
Do you ever get the feeling, that you think your gonna die?
When your hearts imminent beating, makes you wanna cry.
When you feel you can't go on, with this somber life,
Everytime you get close to the top, you fall.
Makes you wanna cry..
Do you ever get the feeling that you think your gonna die,
When your hearts imminent beating, makes you wanna cry.
Do you ever feel that sinking, in your stomach to the floor,
When your hands won't stop the shaking
And you can't take anymore ,
Can't take anymore.
When your hearts imminent beating,
With your stomach to the floor
And you can't take anymore.
When everythung you've lived for, just walked out the door.
Everytime you get close to the top, you fall
Crashing down from the sky.
LOVE IT :)

'Where Good Girls Go To Die' by London After Midnight
Step into this picture
release all your light
I think God has gone mad... here tonight
You can't believe your eyes,
control is so hard to keep
obsession can be hell
from which you'll never be free
It's all for the taking, here tonight
Where good girls go to die
that's where I'll be
Waiting for my love with my heart on my sleeve
Forget about the future
forget about the past.
My heart beats so,
my hands are cold
please God make this moment last
You seek to fill me
with virtues I lack
I'll turn your pure white wings to pure black.
You've pushed too far and now
you've lost control can't you see?
You thought you were the master
but you're down on your knees.
It's all for the taking, here tonight
Where good girls go to die
that's where I'll be,
remembering our love as if it were a disease.
Forget about the future
it wasn't meant to last
My heart beats slow my hands are cold
Oh God it's the end at last.
'Help I'm Alive' by Metric - it's not strictly about an eating disorder, but it is an awesome song
Wow! This hub and the massive heap of subsequent comments have been an interesting and amusing read!
Princesswithapen
One that's never been posted and sums up my experience with body dysmorphia...
Piece of Glass - Caedmon's Call
SO GOOD.
I have spent hours standing in front of the mirror obsessing about my weight and body image - this song describes exactly that and those awful, endless thoughts that race through my head.
Who are you that lies when you stare at my face?
Telling me that I’m just a trace of the person I once was
Cause I just can't tell if you're telling the truth or a lie
On you I just can't rely
After all you're just a piece of glass
Ayria-"Girl on the Floor"
Mirror mirror, on the wall
I'm just someone with no self control
You don't know the real me,
but you get a glimpse so you paint a picture
So vivid, but just so wrong
This little girl is broken this time
I've seen things no one should ever have to see
I paint a smile on to tell the world I'm doing fine While everything I've known flies out the window
(Chorus:) I just want to leave this situation
I don't want to reach this destination
Can't you see I've lost the motivation
I want to leave this situation
Mirror mirror, on the wall
You see a girl with no self control
You ask what I want, it's complicated
The truth is, I don't know
I guess it's not enough to be there sometimes
But I've been dealt a hand no one should ever have to play
I guess I've really messed up this time
I'm too tired to fake the strength behind this lie
CHORUS
And now I sit here, all alone and bored
My head is filled with advice I once ignored
That all you get from this moment,
is all you gave to your past
And all you'll get from this moment,
is what you gave to your past
I'm turning to the next thing
I laugh just for this moment
I'm crying on the bathroom floor
'cause nothing is the same
Turning to the next one
Then we're laughing for the moment
I'm crying on the bathroom floor
I can not regain strength
CHORUS
And now I sit here,
all alone and bored
My head is filled with advice I once ignored:
That all you get from this moment,
is all you gave to your past
And all you'll get from this moment,
is what you gave to your past
i know this seems like a weird choice but disturbia by rihanna - when i listen to the lyrics it reminds me of the terrifying feeling of knowing you are slipping.
Clever Meals - Tegan and Sara
while people tend to argue over what this song is about, I personally like it, whether or not it was written about eating disorders and controlling one's food intake
