Green Tea Rice Pudding
Ingredients
- 1 quart (4 cups) skim milk
- 1/3 cup rice
- 1/2 cup sugar or Splenda
- 1 1/2 Tbsp green tea powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup raisins (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
In medium saucepan, whisk together green tea powder and milk. Add rice, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until rice is tender, about 30 minutes, stirring regularly to prevent milk from scorching and rice from sticking to the pan. Add raisins and cinnamon (if desired), simmer 10 more minutes. Remove from heat and pour into serving or storage container. Let sit at room temperature 2-3 hours until thickened. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

- 1/2 cup white sugar or substitute
- 1 envelope gelatin powder

- 1 1/2 fat-free vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup

I like the sound of the Green tea ice cream rather a lot! yum
rice pudding is one of my favorite recipes this time of year. I had never thought of mixing in green tea (matcha)
I did try something similar once, but I used a prepared chai tea to boil the rice in. The warm spices blended in really nicely with the cinnamon. I sorta winged it - not a true recipe, but oh so good.
Great hub - thank you! :)
The green tea frozen yogurt looks yummy! I love everything green tea. Can't wait to try out your recipe! Thanks for sharing.
These look absolutely delicious. I can't wait to try the rice pudding.

The taste looks good...

If you really don't like green tea at all, you might want to try lower amounts of matcha powder until you see how much you can tolerate. You'll probably find that you get used to the taste, and can increase the amount of green tea in the recipes over time.
This looks great because I really don't like the taste of green tea that much, but this way it may just work! thanks! :)
Yummy! I absolutely love matcha and I love trying it out in various ways, adding it to different recipes like matcha latte, matcha cakes, matcha muffins, matcha ice cream, matcha truffles, etc. (you get the idea). I remember reading an article stating that one cup of matcha is equal to 10 cups of regular green tea. It doesn't get any better ^_^
Thanks for sharing!
These sound great. I drink green tea, but did not know anything about a powder
Thanks for making me aware of it. Will have to check it out now.
