Fat-Free Frozen Yogurt & Sorbet Recipes
By Maddie Ruud
Fruit sorbets and frozen yogurt are the perfect healthy treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. Naturally fat free, when made with whole fruit, they provide a delicious way to get in one of those 5-9 servings a day!
No Ice Cream Maker? No Problem.
Instead of transferring to an ice cream maker, pour mixture into a 9 x 13 inch baking pan and freeze, stirring with a fork every few hours until frozen hard around the edges.
Note: Sorbets especially tend to freeze harder than actually edible when kept in the freezer for any length of time. Just before serving, thaw slightly, break into chunks and beat with a mixer to a palatable texture.

- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar (or to taste)
- 1 ½ cups fresh lemon juice
- 1 Tbsp freshly grated lemon zest
- pinch of salt
Instructions
Stir together water and sugar in medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Heat just until boiling, when all sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat, stir in lemon zest, cover, and let stand 10-15 minutes. Strain and stir in lemon juice and salt. Let cool, cover and chill overnight, or at least 4 hours. Really good recipes but next time can you put something on this website without sugar in it regards lollipop
Thanks very much - I'm on a health kick, but I'm not a huge fan of eating fresh fruit on it's own. I make my own smoothies with a smoothie maker my husband bought me years back, and now I have a healthy dessert reciept for when spring/summer eventually comes!
Lemon Serbot is easy to prepare and good for health and stomach. I think best to use salt (black salt) only instead of sugar.
I am so glad I found this hub just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. The lemon sorbet sounds like a great addition to our lunch menu! Thanks so much!
these sound very nice 2 me !!!
These sound delicious. It's got to be time to get out the old ice cream maker!
girl on a diet:
Absolutely. Substitute equal measurements Splenda for the granulated sugar.
Is it ok if we substitue the sugar for splenda or any other sweeteners? I'm dying for a treat like his but I cannot have any sugar or fat for health reasons...
These look delicious, but I think I'll wait 'til the weather warms up a bit.
I'm frozen myself now.
Thank you - the tropical sorbet sounds delicious! I may even pull out my ice cream maker this weekend!
Wow, I have never tried anything like this, but sounds so yummie that I will give it a shot. Thanks for the inspiration.
The potential for these mixes is unlimited! Love em' and especially for those who have a sweet tooth and are watching their calorie intakes but need a dessert that tastes good.
I love fruit and cold desserts! The Tropical Fruit Sorbet sounds best to me. :-)
Deliocious. My grand ma used to make it. I had to crank and crank the sorbet maker for hours. No fridge back them.
Pour ice around them.
What a taste and softness.
Nothing comparable.
I am going to try your recipe.
congratulations
Hector
